PM Kisan 22nd Instalment: Key Update on Farmer ID and e-KYC Requirements

In a major development for the agricultural sector of India, the PM Kisan 22nd installment release process has been started by the government. Millions of farmers are waiting for the next installment of ₹2,000, which is expected to be credited to bank accounts from February to March 2026, as the date set for the next credit is January 10, 2026. However, this whole cycle has stricter compliance as a measure to ensure that only true landholders benefit from the scheme.

Mandatory Creation of Unique Farmer ID

The most important change connected to the next 22nd installment is the obligatory creation of a Unique Farmer ID. The government is now going beyond simple registration, and this digital identity is linking land records, cultivation data, and Aadhaar details into one big database. It is a step taken to root out “ghost beneficiaries” and smooth out the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) process. Farmers who do not get this ID generated will have their payments stopped, even if they have been regular recipients in the past.

Deadline and Process for Mandatory e-KYC

To be eligible, the completion of Mandatory e-KYC remains a hard condition. There are three major paths farmers can take to meet this requirement: OTP-based authentication through the PM-Kisan portal, biometric verification at Common Service Centres (CSCs), or the new and trendy Face Authentication on the PM-Kisan mobile app. The officials have cautioned that the e-KYC status must show as “Success” on the portal at least 24 hours before the disbursement date so that the funds can be successfully infused into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Expected Timeline for the 22nd Instalment

The 22nd instalment, after the 21st, released on November 19, 2025, is based on a standard four-month interval. Although the official date has not yet been revealed, previous trends indicate a release before the spring harvest season. Additionally, there is large-scale anticipation around the Union Budget, which is to be presented on February 1, 2026, and there are rumors that the financial aid amount could go up from ₹6,000 to a higher limit, which would, in turn, benefit the farmers as far as per-instalment value is concerned.

Ensuring Seamless Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

Farmers will have to make sure that their bank accounts are active and Aadhaar-seeded for a successful credit. The most common causes of transaction failures are issues such as name discrepancies between Aadhaar and bank records or land mutation details being outdated. The government has advised beneficiaries to use the “Know Your Status” feature on the official website to quickly correct any mistakes and thus ensure the important financial support gets to them without any technical delays.
